I lived in St. Louis when I learned how much I loved to make photographs. I was ten when we moved away, and it’s interesting to read an outsider’s perspective on some of the landmarks I remember so well.

I don’t remember the Arch not being air-conditioned. The ride up to the top is an experience in itself…at least when you’re a kid it is. I used to enjoy the Museum of Westward Expansion at the base. The photographic opportunities from the top aren’t the greatest, due to the glass, but it’s neat to be up there, if you don’t have a helicopter ride to compare it to, at least! We always looked for the historic courthouse where the Dred Scot case was decided.

If you ever get the opportunity to go there again, you might enjoy a trip to the botanical gardens. I’m assuming they are still amazing. St. Louis has a nice zoo and science center as well.

I really like the close up of the arch and the one where you can see the arch’s shadow on the grass.
