Studio Chaos I & II

Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to have a variety of people over, and even more fortunate enough that a few of them let me abuse them in my extra room turned studio. First up were my cousin Laurie and sister Jennifer, who were over for a little party for Laurie’s birthday. On Saturday night, after enjoying a live music cruise with Section 8 in Dana Point, Jennifer and Brittany were my excellent models.
All of the photos were lit by my new Alien Bees ABR800 ring flash (modified with a 56″ moon unit), with occasional fill light from a 30″ soft box on the other side or on the background.

I have some mannequins over at my place for a shoot I’m doing for my day job. I have a number of great photos of Jen and Laurie clowning around with them. Here, the mannequin tells Laurie a knee-slapper.
Probably my favorite photo of Brittany. The best photos, in my opinion, are when people are at their most candid.
Another rare appearance by yours truly. I should have shaved before Laurie snapped this photo, rather than the day after. A comb through the hair probably wouldn’t have killed me either.
What’s this? A photo of Jake for all the lucky single ladies out there? Everything looks great!
I’m kind of in love with your new place, I want it! Branden and I have been talking about how perfect it would be for all of our needs since we stopped by and of course this post just confirms that. Besides, it would be SO easy to borrow all your stuff if we were neighbors ; ) Think if I registered for that sweet ring light anyone would buy it for me as a wedding present? I’m still thinking up all the things I could do with that thing, it was so much fun to play with.
I think my favorite shot is with the mannequin. It seems like such an odd thing to have lying around even though I know exactly what you’re doing with it.
Wow, what great pictures Jake. If you need any fun props I am sure I could give you some. My house is just one big closet full of props! How did you get Laurie and Jens hair to stick up?
